The weather here in Ohio was threatening rain for the tenth day in a row, but my brother and I decided, what the hell. Off for a hundred-mile ride through the farmland between Cleveland and Columbus.
The entire time, there were 30-40 MPH wind gusts, and I learned that the Savage is out of its league under those conditions.
My brother was cranked back on his full-dress hog, feet on the highway pegs, one hand on the grips, and totally oblivious. I was a couple hundred feet back on the Suzi and hanging on for dear life. At 50-60 MPH on the 2-lane roads, I had to concentrate on keeping it between the centerline and the ditch. When big trucks passed (and there were many), it was all white knuckles for me. Not fun. The Savage, particularly now with the 'Trapp, has seeming gobs of power, but it's still a light bike. Be careful.
On a positive note, we made it home about an hour before the skies opened up once again and drenched the area. I feel badly for those of you who are feeling the pinch of the drought in the west and south, and wish that I could send you some rain, but the summer here is looking way too wet.
Ride far, ride dry!
